SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH GRANT (STRG)
GUIDELINE FOR APPLICATION FOR THE ITSF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH GRANT
1. Qualification of Candidate
a. A research team consists of minimum of 2 (two) researchers.
b. Energetic and creative young Indonesian researchers, in a team both Principal and Co-Investigators aged below 45 on January 1, 2020.
c. Residing in Indonesia, engaged in research and/or science based innovation in Science and Technology, excluding mathematics, clinical medicine and social sciences.
d. Principal investigator is eligible for only 1 (one) proposal submission in the same fiscal year.
e. Candidate can only receive STRG twice, not in a consecutive year. For those who received previous STRG, current submitted proposal should be a continuation of
previous research.
f. Candidate should carry out research mainly in Indonesia.
2. Research Grant
STRG is provided annually for the duration of one year year for research which has not been completed at the time of proposal submission. ITSF will provide a total amount of approximately IDR 700 million for 2018 calendar year in grants of up to IDR 50 million per approved proposal. This research grant is partly supported by Toray Science Foundation Japan. Any ensuing intellectual property rights resulting from this research will not be claimed by Toray Science Foundation.
3. Recommendation
The proposal should be recommended by a representative of a scientific research institution. For a higher learning institution, this should be the Director of the Research Institute or the Dean of Faculty. For a non-university research center, this should be its director.
4. Application Procedure
The applicant should complete the application form supplied by ITSF and send 5 (five) copies of the completed form, bound with a transparent plastic cover to ITSF.
The proposal is only submitted to ITSF, and not to other research funding agencies in the same fiscal year.
5. Deadline
The completed forms should be received by ITSF before 31 August 2019.
6. Selection Mechanism
Grantees will be selected by the Selection Committee based on the quality of the research proposal. Where necessary, additional reviewers may be invited. Selected grantees will be endorsed by the ITSF Board of Directors. A statement of acceptance to ITSF requirements should be signed by the grantees before the grant is awarded.

8. Science and Technology Research Grant will be presented in ITSF ceremony in March 2020.
9. Presentation of Research Results
The principal investigator is required to present his/her research results at the ITSF Science and Technology Seminar tentatively scheduled in March 2021. A progress report should be submitted at the middle of December 2020.
10. Final Report Submission
Final Report should be submitted to ITSF at the latest one week after the seminar. Each STRG’s recipient should submit 1 (one) softcopy, 3 (three) copies of a final report (hard copies), including a three to five-page extended abstract.
Failure to submit the Final Report will be reported to the institution.
The Final Report to some extent should be able to represent the full report & article format, should contain:
• Abstract
• Results and discussion
• Introduction
• Conclusion
• Materials and Methods
• Recommendation
The grant’s tax will be bourne by ITSF.
